When Simona and I did our first photoshoot together last summer she was a new face on the Fondi Models agency. It was clear that she would become not just a muse for my photography, but also a good friend. These pictures are a good reflection of her personality, as well as the evolution of us working together.
The pictures are made in my home studio, which is in it's very early stages. I'm planning on upgrading it a bit by bit and learn more about studio work as much as possible.
These pictures will grow their importance over time.
When you share secrets, you create memories.

Street photography and it's innovator Henri Cartier-Bresson are what truly got me into photography. I don't do it as much these days, but today I had a good reason to as I was testing out some of my new gear.
I really like the silver bridge connecting Ruoholahti to the new apartment buildings in Jätkäsaari. The architecture reminds me of the wings of an airplane, which makes me dream about traveling.
I stood in the tunnel for ten minutes and shot ten different cars passing through. This somehow struck to me as the perfect one. I love the clean silver surface of the car against the dark background, slightly blurred by the panning effect as I pointed my camera towards the moving car during the exposure. I captured it in one shot and moved on.
Here I couldn't help my self. I was standing in the street lights and as I turned my head, before realising it, I had already captured a picture of this interesting face covered old man and his wife standing right next to me.
Here I did some more panning, but this time with a slightly longer exposure time to achieve a stronger background blur. I think this effect is perfect for moving subjects, so you can feel more like what they are feeling being in that motion.
Finally I went to enjoy a nice glass of rum in the Torni Ateljee Bar after my successful evening in the streets of Helsinki.
Then I headed home and on the way wanted to capture this image I had visioned in my head for some time. I like triangles.
Oh and the new gear:

Polina Hiekkala is a familiar face for many. She was in the modelling contest Finland's next top model in 2012 and almost won the competition. Since then she has been working for Paparazzi Model Magagement. We made these pictures for the fascinating Laurus Fashion brand. I really enjoy the minimal and simple but high quality style of the brand.
Vilma Peltonen is one of my favourite bloggers and personalities that I have met through photography. Last summer, I was sitting in a cafe with Meri and Tim, two other photographers. Vilma approached us asking for someone to take pictures with her. I was looking for a model at the time so I ended up changing numbers with her. Soon we had our first shoot and became like-minded friends.
Now she's living in England and was only briefly visiting Finland. She was in a hurry so we didn't spend more than 20 minutes on these pictures as I was testing out my new lens, the most legendary portrait lens from Canon

Thuy & Valtteri asked me to be their photographer. This was the first time I had a wedding shoot in the winter, but I and we didn't mind, as we were enjoying the cold and grey afternoon in the very beautiful and exotic Winter Garden to shoot these lovely first look -pictures with the couple, best men and the made of honours.

Feast Worldwide is an international event held to promote the food culture in various countries. I was happy to be a part of an interesting, fun and delicious event like this. One of the reasons I love my job!
All of the speeches I heard during the event by Arto Sivonen, Niina Hietalahti, Mikko Ilola, Stephen Lee, Tytti-Lotta Ojala, Kalle Freese and Sami Tallberg were very interesting at some even eye-opening new information for myself.
The served food of the event was made of only of Finnish ingredients that can easily be grown or found in the wild. Really special and very good tasting menu by Sami Tallberg.
